Our Goal

Project Kokoro is a local initiative in North Carolina offering support and encouragement to areas of Japan affected by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. Community and business leaders, charitable organizations, and corporations have all come together to make a difference in disaster-stricken Japan.

Who are we?

Team members are local community and business leaders in the Research Triangle Park area who serve strictly as volunteers, with all proceeds going directly to the initiative. The accounting and fund management of the donations are managed by Triangle Community Foundation.

Project Status

We have now completed projects in Minami-Souma and, more recently, Yamada-Machi, Iwate Prefecture, where a new house has been completed for the volunteer fire brigade, who previously were forced to sleep in their trucks and cars after the disaster while on duty.

Thank you!

From the global business nature of Research Triangle Park to the cultural diversity fostered by having three world-class universities in the area, Triangle residents pride themselves on being responsible global citizens. Thank you all for your kind support for the people of Japan.
