May 28, 2021: Katsura Sunshine

The NC Japan Center had the opportunity recently to interview Katsura Sunshine, famous “rakugo” storyteller. Sunshine is only the second professional non-Japanese “rakugoka” in the history of the art form, and completed an apprenticeship under renowned rakugo master and television host Katsura Bunshi VI. Sunshine speaks with us about his journey, from his beginnings as a playwright and composer in Canada to becoming one of the most recognized international faces of rakugo. Sunshine will be returning to Broadway in October, so get your tickets!
