Cultural Activities/Language Classes for the General Public

Related NC Japan Center activities include:

  • Conducting non-credit Japanese classes for both pre-college students and adults
  • Maintaining a library of English language print and video materials about Japan, as well as reading materials in Japanese
  • Conducting lectures, demonstrations, and fun cultural workshops for both Americans and Japanese nationals
  • Hosting a week-long summer camp for high school students, focused on Japanese culture and language
  • Working with or hosting Japan-related community groups, including the Japanese Language School of Raleigh, the Japan-American Society of North Carolina, the Nippon Club of the Triangle and its affiliates, Triangle Taiko (Japanese drumming) and Triangle Cha-no-Yu (tea ceremony), LABO/4-H student exchanges, and Animazement (Japanese “anime” convention)
  • Responding to inquiries for information or assistance from Americans interested in Japan, and also Japanese residents, in North Carolina
  • Speaking at various public venues about Japan, its history and culture, and its current and historical relations with North Carolina
