Driving Directions

The NC Japan Center is located in the Spring Hill House at 705 Barbour Drive, Raleigh, North Carolina, on state-owned land which was transferred from the Dorothea Dix Facilities to the Centennial Campus of North Carolina State University in January 2001.

Coming from I-40:

  • Leave I-40 at Exit 297 (Lake Wheeler Road; NC State Farmers Market), and turn onto Lake Wheeler Road heading North, toward the city of Raleigh.
  • Immediately after leaving the Exit 297 ramps and overpass bridge you will come to the first traffic signal light on Lake Wheeler Rd. Turn LEFT at this light onto Centennial Parkway (turning Right would take you into a gas station).
  • Count the traffic signal lights on Centennial Parkway (the first one occurs very soon and if for the entrance to the NC State Farmers Market). At the 3rd traffic light on Centennial Parkway, turn RIGHT onto Blair Drive.
  • Follow Blair Dr. approximately 300 yards to the first STOP sign, at the intersection with Barbour Drive. Turn LEFT onto Barbour Dr.
  • The North Carolina Japan Center is the second building on the Left, a large white house with porch.

Coming from Western Blvd:

  • Follow Western Blvd. to the intersection with Avent Ferry Road. Turn SOUTH (away from the main campus of NC State University which fronts onto the north side of Western Blvd.) onto Avent Ferry.
  • Follow Avent Ferry down the long slope to the 1st traffic signal light (Burger King on your left at this intersection) and turn LEFT at that light onto Centennial Parkway.
  • Count the traffic signal lights on Centennial Parkway. At the 2nd traffic light, turn LEFT onto Blair Drive.
  • Follow Blair Dr. approximately 300 yards to the first STOP sign, at the intersection with Barbour Drive. Turn LEFT onto Barbour Dr.
  • The North Carolina Japan Center is the second building on the Left, a large white house with porch.
