Cultural Activities/Language Classes for the General Public
Related NC Japan Center activities include:
Conducting non-credit Japanese classes for both pre-college students and adults
Maintaining a library of English language print and video materials about Japan, as well as reading materials in Japanese
Conducting lectures, demonstrations, and fun cultural workshops for both Americans and Japanese nationals
Hosting a week-long summer camp for high school students, focused on Japanese culture and language
Working with or hosting Japan-related community groups, including the Japanese Language School of Raleigh, the Japan-American Society of North Carolina, the Nippon Club of the Triangle and its affiliates, Triangle Taiko (Japanese drumming) and Triangle Cha-no-Yu (tea ceremony), LABO/4-H student exchanges, and Animazement (Japanese anime convention)
Responding to inquiries for information or assistance from Americans interested in Japan, and also Japanese residents, in North Carolina
Speaking at various public venues about Japan, its history and culture, and its current and historical relations with North Carolina
