NCJC Memberships Overview

It is our great pleasure to introduce the NC Japan Center’s two membership programs: Corporate Membership and Individual Membership. Please see the descriptions for these programs, below!

It is your support and partnership with the NCJC that allows us to expand and strengthen the Japan-America community and relationships in our great state, and we are honored to serve you. If you have any questions and/or comments, please contact Stephen Sumner at swsumner@ncsu.edu.

NCJC Corporate Membership

The NC Japan Center’s role in the NC Japan community

The NC Japan Center (“NCJC”) at NC State University under the Office of Global Engagement, is solely devoted to strengthening the academic, cultural, and economic ties between Japan and North Carolina. The NCJC is a nexus of resources for anyone in North Carolina with a relationship to Japan, and we are dedicated to serving you!

What the NC Japan Center does for the NC Japanese community

As an NCJC Corporate Member you are a pillar of support for the Japan community in NC, growing our state ties to Japan by helping us do more! The NCJC offers a full range of Japanese language courses to the public, hosts educational / social events, provides “Japanese Business Protocol” and “Cross-cultural” workshops, hosts corporate / government delegations, assists incoming Japanese nationals to NC, supports Japanese companies in NC, and much more.

Annual Membership Contribution: Platinum (白金) Gold (金): $3,000 / Silver (銀): $2,000 / Bronze (銅): $1,000

Payment may be online [include merchant acct link] or by check. To mail a check, please send to: NC Japan Center, Campus Box 8112, Raleigh, NC 27695. The annual membership contribution is not tax deductible. If you would prefer to make a charitable gift, forego material benefits, and receive a receipt from NC State’s Gifts and Records Management, please select “Donate to the NCJC” on our homepage (japan.ncsu.edu), or write “Charitable Gift for NCJC” on a check made out to “NC State University.” The names of Corporate Members will be posted on our NCJC website, unless anonymity is requested.

1 Mondays through Saturdays. 9am – 6pm. Conference Room or Classroom or entire house if Platinum; if entire house, reservation must be for 8 hours. Max 8 hours per day. Min 4-hour reservation block. 2 months advanced notice requested.

2 Depends on availability and sufficient advanced notice. Approximately 40-person conference capacity; up to 80 for Platinum. 1 event = up to 6 hours. Maximum of 1 event in one week. NCJC employee must be present. Meeting purpose should serve some segment of NC Japanese business, education, or social community.

3 This number is total classes per year. For example, 4 persons may take 1 class per year, or 2 persons may take 2 classes per year.

4 A one-time $2000 scholarship will be awarded to a student independently selected by NCJC for the academic year of membership. It will be publicly promoted that the scholarship is underwritten by Member’s company and Member may publicize such underwriting pending NCSU approval of text.

What the NC Japan Center does for the NC Japanese Community

As an NCJC Member you are a valued supporter of the Japanese-American community in North Carolina, growing our state ties to Japan by helping us do more! The NCJC currently offers a full range of Japanese language courses to the public, hosts educational and social events, provides cultural competency workshops, welcomes delegations and assists incoming Japanese nationals, supports Japanese companies in NC, and much more.

Benefits of being an NC Japan Center Individual Member

  • Receive a free NCJC t-shirt (A $20 value! S through XXL available.)
  • Receive numerous perks, including priority registration for upcoming events, courses, and workshops.
  • $20 off one 15-week NCJC Japanese course (per membership year)
  • Priority registration for the annual “NC-Japan Business Conference” expected to resume in 2025.
    • Included in the cost of the event ticket ($50), all attendees will enjoy:
      • A pivotal, highly informative event for anyone involved in Japan related business in North Carolina, offering presentations from knowledgeable government and industry representatives on the current status and future path of trade and commerce between Japan and NC.

Annual Individual Membership Contribution: $100
